About Me
I am a clinical psychologist licensed in the state of New York. I have experience and interest in issues around anxiety, depression, relationships, as well as aspects of identity including ethnicity, immigration, gender, and sexual orientation. Drawing from a number of theoretical orientations within Psychology, I believe that a supportive alliance is the sine qua non for effective therapy. My therapeutic style is empathic and collaborative so as to create a space where difficult emotions can be endured and where positive change can occur. Over the past eleven years, I've worked with adolescents and adults in multiple settings including university college counseling centers, community mental health, inpatient hospital settings, as well as forensic facilities. I also have extensive training in assessment, especially personality assessment, which informs my therapeutic approach. Having lived and worked both in the United States and India, I'm especially aware of how culture shapes us as individuals. In addition to English, I am fluent in Hindi and conversant in Urdu. |
